The United Pegasus Foundation (UPF) is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1994. We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and retiring horses.

UPF has become one of the largest thoroughbred retirement, rehabilitation and adoption organizations, saving hundreds of former racehorses from slaughter by giving them a humane and deserved retirement.

With an operating cost of approximately $350,000 a year, UPF relies on volunteers and the generosity of donors to perform its mission and maintain its well-equipped farm with a carrying capacity of more than 100 horses
.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Late 2013, the Tranquility Farm sold their 40 acre ranch located in Tehachapi California.

They needed to downsize and planned on moving only 20 of the Thoroughbreds to their new facility in Northern California.

Tranquility Farms needed to move by January 6th, 2014.

The United Pegasus Foundation reached out to Tranquility Farms to help re-home 25 of their Thoroughbreds with no permanent home and facing an uncertain future.

These Thoroughbreds needed somewhere safe to go.

On December 30th 2013, Helen and her staff of 3 began moving the 25 Thoroughbreds to our facility.

With the additional 25 Thoroughbred horses, we are now currently caring for 82 Thoroughbreds.

This is a list of the new Thoroughbreds that were transferred to the United Pegasus Foundation:

HAY HAY HAY

The cost of hay here in California is very expensive. All year we have been paying between $15.00 to $18.00 per bale of alfalfa.

Each truck and trailer load costs, as of now, approximately $8,500.00, which will last about 8 weeks.

We are continuing our fund raising efforts over the winter months, as the loads of alfalfa will increase in price.

Please help by donating towards our hay fund.

We would like to send out a big thank you to the following organizations for all your support!

CARMA (California Retirement Management Account)

TAA (Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance)

TCA (Thoroughbred Charities of America)
